Yamaha RX-V677 7.2-channel Wi-Fi Network AV Receiver with AirPlay

Occational Picture Loss When using HDMI Pass-Through
I bought this at Best Buy, not Amazon, but wanted to review it here anyway.

Pros:
Sounds great! The simulated "presence" speakers add more sound to the room.

I like how you can raise the volume level of just dialog instead of having the raise the volume of the center speaker itself.

It runs nice and cool, even in my cabinet behind glass doors.

It has plenty of HDMI ports, and I like how it also has optical and coax audio inputs, DLNA, airplay, and the iPhone app to adjust volume and some other settings.

Cons:
I have all my devices passing through the receiver via HDMI for picture and sound. A couple times a month when watching from my Cable DVR or my WD Live streaming device, the picture will go blank for 2-3 seconds, but I won't lose audio. I swapped out the receiver once with another new one, but this one does it too. I tried all new high quality HDMI cables, tried differed HDMI ports on the TV and Receiver,...

Great modern system
After getting everything hooked up to the back I turned on the receiver and put it on my cable box connection. Immediately I noticed the 4K upscaling. My picture on my Samsung TV has never been so clear and smooth. It has on screen settings and setup. I set up the YPAO mic in the area we normally sit in the room. I let it auto program my speaker settings. It was perfect. No setting volume for each speaker, it's all done automatically by using the YPAO mic. You save the settings and then disconnect the mic. The sound quality is really great, it's clear, nice bass and the 7.2 channel setting really surrounds you. I have an iPhone 5 and the airplay works flawlessly. No distortion or skipping. My album artwork appears on my tv screen and the name of the song also scrolls on the receiver screen. The front HDMI input is great if you have something like a Roku stick. I can easily use one stick and just go from tv to tv with it. I also set up a zone 2 in the lower level of my...

CONFIRMED: Firmware 1.50 finally fixed the 4:4:4 @ 60hz pass through issue - decent receiver
Hello,

I am writing to let any reading this forum know of the issues I am having with my RX-V677 which expands across the RX-V577 as well as the RX-V777BT.

I will be updating this shortly with a long list of details and finding as well as TERRIBLE customer service Yamaha has. Over the past 2 weeks I have been chasing huge problem only to find out these receivers are not HDMI 2.0 complaint and have not been since June.

Eventually I landed a specific webpage which *WARNS* users that the HDMI 2.0 4:4:4, RGB and 4:4:2 color profile is not enabled and will come as a later firmware update. The problem is that these were released in June and over the past four months nothing has been accomplished.

When I brought this up to tech support level 1 I got an attitude, when tech level 2 did not call me back I call him and got an attitude. Today Mr. Cortez the supervisor of the support called he had no information and seemed like he was annoyed I was even...
