FUGOO Tough - Portable Rugged Bluetooth Wireless Go Anywhere Speaker Waterproof Shockproof Mud-proof Snow-proof

Scoured every review on the internet for every top bt speaker in every category and am extremely satisfied with this bad boy.
I wasn't sure what to expect. I have read every review here and accross the internet for the Fugoo, UE Boom, Creative Roar, TDK A33, Libratone Zipp, both Bose, three Klipsch, Nyne Bass, Big Jambox and G-Boom. So many to choose from and no store nearby to hear them all. It really came down to the Boom and the Fugoo because of reviewed sound quality, size, and splash proofedness.

I really wanted to buy the Roar, but its not really a beach/camping/travel type speaker.
The Nyne Bass was simply too big. Maybe if it were just going to sit on a mantle, but I have a receiver and speakers in that case.
The TDK was in the running till the end, but appeared to be a notch or two below the Fugoo and The Boom. Battery tech/life specifically.
I think the Mini Bose is ugly. The Big Bose lacked battery life and sportyness. And honestly not a fan of bose.
I was so concerned about sound, I really considered the Zipp. I really believe it has the best sound quality...

Best all-around portable speaker I've owned. Incredible sound in a gorgeous package. You can take this speaker to the beach!!!
Where did Fugoo come from?!! Forget about the Bose, UE, or Jawbone. This is definitely the new top dog in portable speakers, especially if you want to actually go anywhere interesting with your portable speaker.

I bought the Fugoo "Style" directly from Fugoo's website a couple of weeks back after reading all of the positive press from CES. After receiving the Style speaker, I was so impressed that I pre-ordered from Amazon a second Fugoo speaker, this time the "Sport" model. The two models are nearly the same, except the Sport is even more rugged than the Style.

Here's what I'm loving about the Fugoo Sport:

Sound quality -- This little speaker blew me away. Not only does it play clean and loud, but the sound is ACCURATE! The other guys (I'm pointing the finger at you, Bose!) artificially over-emphasize the bass sounds, which might sound OK at first, but really results in a lot of songs not sounding right at all. The Fugoo performs a...

Just not loud enough.
I wanted to like this speaker. I really, really wanted to. I was very excited for it when I saw it at CES, and I preordered on Amazon as soon as it was available. Got it on the very first day (March 21). I was drawn in by the clever design, the rugged case, the great battery, waterproofness, but most of all, for the promised 95 dB 360-deg sound.

It is an amazingly designed, beautifully built, righteously rugged speaker with unparalleled battery life. And when you're listening to something on your own, it does sound very good.

However, the thing that I was most excited for, the promised 95 dB volume, failed to deliver *big time*. This speaker is, simply put, far too quiet. It would never pump out enough music for even a small room full of a dozen people. I don't want a rugged bluetooth speaker just for empty hotel rooms; I want it for parks, beaches, poolsides, and tailgates. And the Fugoo just does not have the oomph for these activities. And at $230, I...

  1. Fugoo's portable Bluetooth Portable speaker is designed for multiple environments, offering three different casings you can use to hide its inner workings — but it's the Sport casing that offers the most versatile experiences. What separates the Fugoo from its competition is its 40-hour battery life: This little speaker will keep jamming for days, whether you're sitting by the pool or on a camping trip. And speaking of the pool, the Fugoo has an IP67 water- and dust-resistance rating, allowing you to play music near (or in) water. (Of course, it won't sound great under water given the whole physics of sound waves, but it's doable.)
