Smiling for a reason
Okay, like many of you I probably did over 40 hours of pouring over online reviews, critiques, etc. trying to find the perfect speakers for a budget price. Sounds familiar right? I personally listened to about 20 different speaker sets ranging from Infinity P363, Polk models of all kinds, Martin logans, Energy, B&W, you get the point. I actually bought and returned the HTD Level 2 towers and center, they were just not for me.
I kept going back to the Polk TSI500 model despite side-by-side comparrisons with Polk's LSI models (which were too bright for me). I just didn't want to drop the $$$ on the TSI's. After doing research and actually calling Polk Audio directly, I was able to confirm that the 75t model is next to identical to the TSI500 line (most notable difference is cosmetic). Also, they are almost identical to their predecessor the Monitor 70 and Monitor 70 series II. I ended up buying the 75t but did not get them from Amazon.
Alright, down to the...
Extremely Pleased
Over the past few months I've been replacing components from a Sony home theater system (one of those "what were they thinking" 5.1 sets with the proprietary audio plugs that cannot be replaced easily).
Since space is something of a concern, I first switched out the Sony receiver for a Marantz 1604 (50W x 7 channels), then added a Polk PSW10 powered subwoofer. Three weeks ago I added a pair of these 75T speakers (my original Sony main speakers will become my rear speakers in the new configuration).
ABOUT THE POLK 75Ts
The speakers arrived direct from Amazon's affiliate within five days of placing the order; one of the boxes was very slightly damaged, but packaging was such that the speaker was not harmed in any way.
My listening preferences can be somewhat eclectic -- Baroque Classical, Contemporary and Jazz Piano, full orchestral soundtracks, Opera, Celtic and Classical violin, and a smattering of instrumental Light Rock. After...
Great Speakers
Recently bought these for $220 a piece. The sound that comes out of these is amazing even under my low powered amp (Onkyo 50W a channel) . The bass extension is great and for music no sub is really needed and I think a sub would sound unnatural for music. The clarity is exceptional and as good as anything I have heard . These things are very tall so check the specs and make sure they are not too tall for your setup. These are also pretty heavy with 4 6 and half inch speakers in them. Really nice looking in the cherry finish. For the money these baby's are hard to beat. Don't think twice , buy these and sit back and crank the tunes and hear things you have never heard before in your records, cd's or HD radio. The description is incorrect here on amazon as they specify (4) 5 1/4 speakers which is incorrect , they are actually (4) 6 1/2 speakers. Check it out for yourself on the Polk site.
