Denon AVR-X1100W 7.2 Channel Full 4K Ultra HD A/V Receiver with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi

Major upgrade from last year's Denon AVR-X1000. Supports 802.11g Wi-Fi.
The Denon AVR-X1100W is the successor to last year's 4-star rated Denon AVR-X1000. Many features are the same as the AVR-X1000, but there are some major upgrades this year.

What's unchanged since last year?

* 80 watts per channel (8 ohms, 20 Hz~20 kHz, .08% THD, 2 channels driven).
* Apple Airplay.
* Ability to drive 6-16 ohm speakers.
* Supports MP3, AAC, WMA, WAV, FLAC, and Apple Lossless (ALAC) audio formats.
* Audyssey MultEQ XT room correction system is an advantage over competing receivers in its price range.
* Six HDMI inputs.

What's new this year?

* 7.2 channel surround sound, compared to last year's 5.1 channel surround sound.
* 802.11g Wi-Fi.
* Bluetooth.
* HDMI 2.0 on two of the receiver's six HDMI inputs.
* An extra fiber optic (TOSLINK) digital audio input. Yay!
* Ability to drive 4 ohm speakers.
* New...

Glitchy
I really wanted to like this AVR because of its many features and reasonable price. When it works well it is great. However, it is very glitchy and I have been having annoying problems with it.

Pros:
Apple Airplay and Bluetooth connectivity
Low impedance drive - I have it driving 4 Ohm speakers without problems
Audyssey system adjusts settings to your room and speakers automatically
Good price for advertised feature set

Cons:
Would not transmit audio from my satellite box via HDMI. After a day spent on the phone with technical support, the conclusion was that my satellite box was incompatible with the receiver. Had to work around by using a separate optical connection from the satellite box to the receiver. Sometimes also has video HDMI handshake problems where no video is transmitted either.

Both Airplay and Bluetooth are unreliable. Bluetooth especially so. Sometimes it will be playing music via Bluetooth, and will...

Much, much better than the few bad reviews seen here
I almost didn't purchase this product because of the lopsided reviews on Amazon. Look at Crutchfield or Best Buy! It's more highly thought of by those reviewers. I digress, I bought the x1100 at Best Busy on 12/14/2014 since they had a sale for $200 off ($299). Amazon did end up matching Best Buy's price, but I hesitated to let the Brown Truck handle such a delicate piece of electronics.

As for the Denon x1100w... I love it, now that I've used it for a few days. Setup was insanely easy. Thirty minutes and I was done. I was especially excited for the 'next gen' features, namely wireless and Internet radio. All work flawlessly; however, I must say the iPad app sucks in comparison to DeMote, a third party app on the App Store. Using the latter app with my x1100w is why this review is a 5. Denon's onscreen menu are sad--straight out of DOS. DeMote makes it so I rarely need to turn to Denon's menus.

Lastly, I cannot describe how sweet this receiver sounds! I bought...
