Great Controller. Great Games. Great System.
This system has seen it all in a short amount of time as it pertains to controversy and scrutiny, but rest assured that it's a great system worthy of the price tag.
First off, when you power it up you'll notice the spectacular UI (user interface) that comes packaged in that delivers the Windows 8 OS-like setup. It's easy to to get to where you want, and it has a nice clean look to it. Very attractive.
If you buy the Kinect (optional) you'll be walked through a quick setup that'll have you ready to go in about a minute or two. The Kinect makes navigating the UI that much more simple if you don't mind talking to a device that is. I personally don't and it's so cool in action. It has a fair share of people who refuse to give it a chance ranging from tin foil theories of being spied on to feeling silly talking or moving around to have it function in specific games but the device is impressive.
But if you're not interested in the Kinect, you still have...
Not the destiny I expected...
Well...after having to "repair" my Xbox 360 not once...but THREE times for various reasons (RROD twice, HD failure once) and then receiving refurbished units (from MS) in varying conditions, I was very cautious about buying an Xbox One. [sigh] Maybe I should have remained cautious?
It was my plan to wait it out and give MS time to work out any potential launch kinks. I also wasn't keen on having the wired Kinect sensor because there's no easy (or pretty) way to integrate it into my projector-based home theater setup. Plus, I've only used my 360's Kinect a handful of times...and thus, I was very enthused when MS dropped the Kinect requirement. However, I still waited...and waited a little longer until they did their "free game with purchase" deal last week. I chose Destiny....still haven't played it. I think my true destiny is to always have problems with MS consoles!
This time it's a noise. A high-pitched whine that reminds me of my college days in the...
Because some people don't want the Kinect
This is a perfect way for people to get into the Xbox One without spending a lot of the money now. I could see the advantages of this to someone looking to play the core Xbox exclusives without worrying about the Kinect. As many Xbox One owners, I cannot imagine using my Xbox One without Kinect. But I understand a lot of people are jaded over the Kinect and wouldn't want it. This bundle was made for them. There are times when I never even turn on my controller when using my Xbox One because the voice recognition and commands are a hundred times better on the One than they were on the 360. I used to get so angry at my 360 for unrecognized commands. People all over the internet complained about the Kinect and about how the Xbox One isn't strictly about games, so here it is. The console for the gamers who just want to use the Xbox One strictly as a gaming console. With the money you save on this bundle, and the pricing on Amazon for games, you could buy two games with the money...
