Seriously good!

Ok... I'm going to try to make this quick. I've owned a Klipsch KW12 for 8 years and have been satisfied. Recently, I upgraded my entire system and when it came to adding a new sub... I looked for something else (I was not a loyal customer). Therefore... I reviewed and searched for months... eventually purchased a Velodyne Optimum 12 (Over $1400). Needless to say... I sent it back because it was barely better than my old Klipsch. So then I purchased a SVSound NSD unit based on reviews... and once again... I was not satisfied... so I sent it back. Finally, I purchased this unit (Klipsch Sub-12HG Synergy), and I'm extremely happy. The sound is better than the much more expensive units that I tried. Tight and deep. Not not mention... it blends in better than other subs.

Seriously, quit looking around. I know... its hard to believe that you can get a killer sub for only $299, but its true. This is a fantastic sub. Now I'm using this along with my old KW12 and I'm in heaven.

Fantastic for Home Theater
About a week ago, I upgraded to the Klipsch Sub-12 from a lower powered 10" sub to complete the 7.1 home theater set up in my 12ft by 19ft basement room. I watch a lot of action movies and concerts on Blu-Ray/DVD. I highly recommend this subwoofer if you like to feel the deep bass and to shake the house. I located the sub at the front left corner of the room (about 10" away from the walls). This Klipsch seems to play noticeably deeper and louder (with power to spare) than the sub that I replaced. The sound from the subwoofer is not directional. Its sound just fills the room.

One small negative (easily fixed) is the small blue LED light on the lower front face of the subwoofer cabinet. The light shows that the sub is ON and operating. In my dark room, the LED is too bright. My solution was to simply put a small piece of black electrical tape over the light to hide it. The tape blends in with the cabinet and is not noticeable.

Again, I highly recommend...
Pleasant surprise
When I bough this subwoofer I was a bit skeptical. I have been researching for quite a while and narrowed my choices between this Klipsch Sub-12 and a Polk Audio PSW-505. I have been reading all the reviews that praised the sound of the Klipsch for under "$500" and the sort, but said that there are better sounding subwoofers out there in much higher price ranges. While the Polk PSW-505 seems like a very comparable subwoofer based on specs and price alone, I decided to go with the Klipsch because of the down-firing design. After opening, installing and properly setting up this sub, I was completely blown away that such sound can come from a home theater subwoofer. The power is more than anyone would ever need to listen to movies or even music, and the sound itself can hit so low that your whole house will be shaking. Stop researching and bring this bad boy home.
From my own experience two most important components in a home theater system (for movies) is your center speaker and your sub-woofer. What ever you do make sure you get the best one you can afford and if like me your budget is less than $400/-, you have Bic F12 as a very serious contender for top spot.

I spent almost a month searching for a sub (for 50:50 music/movies), researching in lots of online forums and auditioned in couple of different local stores. High on my list were:
- Emotiva Sub 10: No longer being sold :(
- Emotiva Sub 12: Slightly out of my budget
- Elemental Design A3S-250: Past quality issues and too long a wait to get one
- Def Tech. ProSub 800: Checked this out in local store but I was not impressed by it
- Velodyne Impact 10: Checked this out in local store, did not like it as it could not go low.
- Polk subs: Don't bother (I tried couple and nothing impressed me) although I own Polk speakers which I love...
Hard time picking between the PSW505 and F12? Let me help, I own both
Let me make myself clear before I begin. I love Polk, I originally was going to make my system all Polk however, as any half decent audiophile knows, one company simply does not make the best of everything. Truly a Great Bargain but....
As an audiophile who has had numerous very high end (Meridian, Cello, McIntosh, B&W, Proceed...) components in and out of my systems over the years, I can say wholeheartedly that the F-12 is an outstanding value for the $170-$200 retail price. I bought it for my 13x20x9 budget media room which is currently under construction but have been using it in my 2 channel system for kicks over the last two weeks. The low frequency extension is excellent(down 4db at 25Hz in my room) and I would consider it pleasantly musical with speakers capable of flat response at or below 80Hz (which isn't asking much). It is when this sub is paired with very small speakers that it begins to tarnish; typical of many ported subwoofers, it just doesn't play well above the 80Hz range. For example, Paired with NHT Superzeros, which fall off a cliff at about 85-90Hz, some of the "punchiness" is lost. This frequency response trough is most likely the reason why some reviewers claim that the F-12 sounds...

SONOS SUB Wireless Subwoofer

This sub blew my mind!!
Let me start this review off by saying WOW!! I have seen Sonos products for years but had never really sat down and listened to them. My first purchase about a week ago was a Play 5, which sounded awesome by itself already. I subscribe to all the home theater magazines and have seen reviews on this sub and everyone raves about it. I decided to give it a shot and see what it was all about. If you're familiar with Sonos you know how simple it is to "pair" the device. Simply go to the app/computer and click "add component" from there it walks you through the process, which involves pressing the one button on the sub, listening to some bass tones to help calibrate it, and you're up in running. It will literally take you less than 5 minutes to add this to your system. Once this was added i cued up the new Daft Punk album and put on one of my favorite songs "Doing it Right". My jaw hit the floor when the bass came in! Not only did the sub blend perfectly with the Play 5 but I was shocked at...

Sucked in by the new wave of promotion for the Play 1, I dipped my toe into the Sonos stream and picked up one of those little wonders. Free bridge. Amazon promotional credit. Love the sound. Bought a second play 1 for stereo pair. Marveled at the clean, balanced sound, with admittedly a decent amount of bass for such a tiny package.

Then along came the splurge for this SUB.

To start with, it's a small piece of sculpture for your living room. Why hide this glossy monolith under the sofa? It looks mahvelous, simply maaahvelous. Conversation starter for sure.

But then there is the setup and the sound.

Setup: like all of the Sonos components, a piece of cake. A few clicks in the sonos controller app and you're good to go. Sonos Sub brings the thunder down under...
I have received my Sonos Sub and now its time to play. The question at hand will be what and how much of an effect will it be on an already awesome wireless system. I am running two Play:5 speakers and use them all the time, mostly mobile. The wife moves them around from the back yard to the garage to the front of the house ect.. I have a very nice surround sound system with the TV but I'm limited to just that room. Opening the box I see it's packed just like all the rest of Sonos product, top notch nothing but the best.... You pull from box and wow it is very heavy.

Easy set up plug in power cord push Bridge button and sub button so they find each other. I use my Android app to control my system and presto it finds it instantly. Then go to system set up and that's where you can get crazy pair them up or set them up as right and left to work off each other. Then you can dial in the settings for the sub very easy. So you want to know the sound .... Lets just say it is...

JBL ES250PBK High-Performance 12-Inch Powered Subwoofer

Meets all of my requirements
I originally was going to order the ES150PBk 200watt sub-woofer, but it was not going to be shipped until mid April. So I went with JBL's 300watt RMS (500Watt Peak) model. I paid $353.00 with a $30.00 off (for applying for an Amazon credit card) and this brought the price down to $323.00 with "free" super saver delivery. This unit will shake your living room during explosions in action movies (check out Pearl Harbor and Live Free, Die Young) and provides a nice, tight bass in music. I only have it turned up to just passed the mid-point & that is very loud. It is well designed, attractive, and you get more than your money's worth. You can not go wrong for this price! By the way, it does come with a removable black grill that is not pictured. I researched several other sub-woofers and none came close to providing the specs that this one does at this price and from such a well-established company. Good Sound... died too soon

It worked fine one year and a half. One day dead not even the red light, had to pay a lot for reapir (80USD) it last 3 months then same problem dead again. So no matter i have the ES90 jbl speakers the harman kardon amp...i am moving to klipsch or polk...

Don't touch it
I purchased this JBL model ES250PBK 12-Inch Sub from Amazon quite contrary to my instincts after reading a couple of negative reviews about it. The purchase process at Amazon.com was top notch, unfortunately the product wasn't. I hooked it up to Denon AVR3312 reciever as part of a 5.1 home theater system comprising JBL LC2 center speakers, JBL L890 fronts and JBL surround speakers. After calibrating with Audyssey, the only other sound this sub produced was dead silence. I replaced the flimsy manufacturer's cable it arrived with with Monster sub cables all to no avail. The sub had died barely 24 hr after delivery. Barely one day after delivery this sub was back on its way to Amazon. I am aware that JBL has received a lot of flak about this product so what the %$#&^% are they waiting for before they recall it or re-engineer it, or is it for someone sueing them for spinal fracture while trying to lift and repackage a 50 pound paper weight of a subwoofer?.
