Onkyo HT-S5700 5.1-Channel Network A/V Receiver/Speaker Package with Bluetooth

title="pitch perfect" width="263" />

Review

Good Bang For the Buck
Took a little while to set up and get dialed in with TV and other components but now this system " cooks". Set up suggestions , upgrade from the supplied speaker wiring and do use the " Automatic speaker setting " room calibration . I used this in a lower level theater room setting with very good result. Excellent 5.1 channel audio separation and sound clarity with "house shaking" ability. Very good music and AM/FM playback as well. HT-R 593 AV receiver has the capacity and inputs to drive a variety of components. Although not a truly high end system a great value giving above average performance.

Very exceptional entry-level HTIB
Excellent sound plus 4k pass-through for connecting potential 4k sources (ps4, streaming content), Bluetooth, wifi for connection to streaming music providers and Onkyo receiver top quality reputation... For the price it can't be beat

Great Theater System
This system surprised me. Its lower cost caused me to be suspicious of the sound quality. That was totally unfounded. You don't have to pay a fortune to get excellent sound. The 5.1 surround is excellent and the set-up procedure automatically sets the speakers to the ideal for whatever room you are using. I tried to improve on the settings and after playing with the system for an hour concluded that the automatic setting system was much better than I was and so I went back and redid the initial setup again. Everything you need is in the package and the instructions were very clear. I highly recommend this system. It is far from the most expensive system out there but it is the one you really be happy with.

Onkyo HT-S3700 5.1-Channel Home Theater Receiver/Speaker Package

Very Satisfied with this system!!
We renovated our family room and purchased this system to hook-up to our 60" Sony flat screen. Sounds great!! We ran 14 ga. speaker wire in the walls before sheetrock. Set-up for my husband was easy. Don't use the speaker wire that comes with the system, it's too small. 14 ga. is the max size to use or any heavier wire wouldn't fit into the jacks/clips on the back of the receiver. Great system for the price. Don't be afraid of the settings menu, set it to your room is also easy >> instructions were no problem, my husband felt he was part of the "Geek Squad" LOL.

ONE REMOTE TO RULE THEM ALL
The remote is the secret gold nugget of this system.
I have not set up a pure HDMI system before, but was very impressed with the HDMI remote control pass through feature.
The system I set up consisted of the TV, the new receiver, a DVD player, an AppleTV, and the cable box. I looked up the remote control codes for each and programmed the Onkyo remote. It allows complete control of every piece of gear!! Even the cable box.
I personally own a Logitech Harmony remote, and was expecting to need one for this new system I set up, but that Onkyo remote is the crown jewel of the system in my opinion. It takes a little experimentation to see which control button acts as the home button for the AppleTV, but it works great! It also takes some experimentation to figure out power sequencing, but one button shuts all the gear off at once. (there are three discreet power buttons on this remote).
I think the speaker wire is fine, but might be a bit short in some...
Great product!!
Definitely a great buy. For the money it is well worth it. It sounds awesome too!! It delivers what it promises. It actually sounds better than my neighbors more expensive system.
It was delivered on time and the packaging was excellent. The only thing I could say is to buy your own speakers cables. That will make a huge difference in sound quality.

Onkyo HT-S9700THX 7.1-Channel Network A/V Receiver/Speaker Package with Dolby Atmos

UPDATE: NO AUDYSSEY BETTER 4K HDMI SLIGHTLY MORE WATTAGE
I do not own the 9700thx product but this is in response to another reviewer who said this product has less wattage than the previous onkyo ht-s9400thx model which I own myself. At first glance I also thought this newer 9700 model had a lower wattage rating but looked closer at the specs and realized it's actually a little more wattage for the speakers on this newer model from my knowledge and i'll explain below feel free to add to the comments if you have any more audio knowledge than I do or to clarify anything. I do want to purchase this product out when it becomes available and give my finding on the differences between the 9700 vs the 9400 model

I am not an expert on audio but I do know quite a bit. Info taken from the onkyo.com us website

the specs of the 9400thx says 130 W/Channel (6 ohms, 1 kHz, 1%, 1 ch driven))

the specs of the 9700thx says 115 W/Channel (6 Ohms, 1 kHz, 0.7%, 2 Channels Driven, FTC)

the key on the two specs is the...

Great All in One Package
This is a great all in one package with awesome sound. I bought this to use with in ceiling speakers as a 5.1.2 setup.

I find myself immersed in the movie with the setup. I bought an all in one package for the convenience of not having to piece together a system.

I do recommend purchasing your own speaker wire as what came with is a small gauge and not nearly enough for a living room.

Beautiful hardware, beautiful sound!
Just got the new HT-S9700THX surround system today. Wow! This system is fantastic. I am in love with this new receiver and all its features! Being able to play iTunes radio via bluetooth on my iPhone is awesome! The sound after calibrating this thing is superb, beats the pants off my old Onkyo system! The iOS remote app is very handy, the pairing the universal remote to all my devices via onscreen directions & codes was awesome, the wireless firmware update was very smooth, and what a beautiful looking set of speakers! It made my Wii, Xbox, Cable Box, and Blu-Ray player sounds amazing! Good packaging, nothing was scratched or damaged.

If you guys listen close enough to fix the parts that slowed me down during setup, maybe you could improve them for others? Here were my issues.

1) Your website still says "Coming Soon!" on the product info page, but it is available in your store. You should change this so others know to buy it!
2) When connecting my...

Onkyo HT-S5600 7.1-Channel Home Theater Receiver/Speaker Package

Great product but wiring issue right out of the box
I love Onkyo products (this is my second home theater in a box I have owned from Onkyo) but they have a quality control issue that they don't appear to be addressing properly. The subwoofer on this system started cutting out and then ultimately stopped working about 20 minutes after setup. I thought it was a settings issue or power issue at first but I tested the RCA cable that supplies the signal from the receiver to the subwoofer with a multimeter and discovered it had little to no continuity. That is, the cable had a break in the wiring internally even though I did nothing but unfurl the wire and connect it. A new RCA cable fixed the issue.

Out of curiosity, I conducted an online search and there are scores of people who are having subwoofer issues with similar Onkyo systems. Most of these consumers are under the assumption that their subwoofer is to blame, when in reality, it's probably just the wiring. I submitted a polite email to the company about a month ago...

Fantastic sound
I was ready to upgrade my 14 year old Yamaha system in my family room. After doing a lot of research, I settled on this package. The reviews were positive and it was in the price range I was looking at. I have had this for a week now and I am very happy with the setup and the performance. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this.

Great Receiver/Poor Speakers/Horrendous Subwoofer
The Good:

- The AV receiver included in this product is outstanding (if it works) and most feature-filled and tech capable of any other system within this price range.

- The Audyssey optimization/equalization/calibration is a wonderful feature, and it functions dynamically to adjust the audio according to different variables.

The Bad:

First of all, I don't write reviews on sites like Amazon typically, because I tend to research and discuss products on tech-enthusiast sites; however, product deficiency and defects abound with this home theatre system, and -- given ONKYO's indifference in reference to customer satisfaction -- I feel obligated to warn potential buyers of the serious problems with this product.

- The quality control and reliability of ONKYO would be laughable if they were not stealing money from consumers. My first receiver was defective, then the replacement sub was defective, and then that subwoofer replacement...
