Klipsch RC-62 II Reference Series Center Channel Loudspeaker - Each (Black)

Unbelievably GREAT!!
I purchased the Klipsch RC-62II as an upgrade from my RC-52 and the level of improvement is astounding! I can't get over the major bump in quality and have to hand it to the Klipsch engineering team for a job well done.

For those of you who are not familiar with Klipsch, their stuff has been around for many many years. They offer an excellent 5 year warranty on all their speakers and they are truly made to last. Most of my Klipsch are now going on 4 years and are used daily with ZERO issues. I feed them all (including this center channel) with 110 watts RMS each from a Denon AVR (made in Japan model) and it is a perfect fit.

My system had consisted of two RB-81's for left and right mains, a RC-52 for the center, two RS-12d subs and two RS 52's for my surrounds. While the RS 52's were fine for surrounds they don't quite match the voicing of my left and right Klipsch mains but worked very well for movies. Great Sound Definition
I recently upgraded my A/V receiver to a Yamaha RX-V667 and, of course, that triggered more 'upgrades' (you know how that goes).

I have a nice, older pair of M&K bookshelf speakers in the guest room, where my home theater resides; with the new receiver they were way outperforming the center channel speaker (an older, smaller Klipsch model).

A local retailer is going out of business, so I had the opportunity to pick up the RC-62 II for an incredible price.

All I can say is: 'wow'. The sound quality is really crisp and provides an enhancement to the dialog / center channel track I've not heard before. To to frank, I heard the biggest difference watching season 2 of In Treatment - quiet dialog, with great attention to audio detail paid by the production team (e.g. lots of subtle background sound effects - you really feel like you are sitting in Paul Weston's office).

Highly recommended for performance, but be careful: the deep cabinet...

Clear and in your face dialogue, soul piercing highs
I've had mine for 9 months so I've had a chance to get accustomed to it. The center channel provides most of the dialogue and some of the soundtrack and sound effects as well. Klipsch have been said to be "bright" by some people. I even have had these sound a bit "off" at times. But what I think it is, these speakers are so accurate and clear, that that can be mistaken for "bright". People aren't used to the clarity these provide. Also if you have room correction software these can be picky. You really have to test multiple positions no more than 1 foot apart from eachother. If you set up your system and place your speakers correctly. There is no other speaker type that will give you such power and clarity as good horn tweeters. And Klipsch is one of the best bang for your buck speakers. These really do perform exceptionally well for their price point.

Klipsch RC-52 II Reference Series Center Channel Loudspeaker - Each (Black)

Klipsch has done it this time, Perfect Center Channel Speaker
Looks
Boxy but looks impressive, looks more like a receiver then a speaker. Also the lower band displaying REFERENCE adds to the impression that it is a high quality product. A little heavy but I believe heavier the better as it cancels out any vibrations or turbulence. Take the grills off and everything oozes quality.

Sound Quality
This is replacing Klipsch RVX-42 which itself was a great speaker, my favorite klipsch till now but RC-52 II contains 5.25" woofers compared to 4 inch woofers in RVX-42. So although the midrange is still the same as RVX-42, the biggest difference is the male voices which appears stronger and chestier with RC-52 II. I had always wanted to buy RC-52 but the tapered array technology dual crossovers balked me every time as although a great idea, dual crossovers resulted in interference.

Since 90% of dialogues in a movie come through center channel and most people crossover their system at 80hz, With RC-52 II I get everything...

New to 5.1 and Looking for a Nice Center? Read on.
We are a family of gizmos, gadgets and *a lot* of A/V equipment. We have fairly discerning ears. We just added this speaker to our family room. We purchased it "Used - Like New" off of Amazon for $215 and are very pleased with the purchase. The vocal clarity and overall tone that comes from this unit is perfect for a mid-range 5.1 setup. It looks and feels like a well made unit, and most of all brings a great center channel experience to your surround sound setup.

For anyone new to 5.1 surround sound, here are a few insights that might be helpful. Generally speaking, there are three categories of sound involved with 5.1. The first is the dialogue in the movie. For the most part, dialogue is delivered through your center channel speaker. This is why getting a nice center channel is important. A large part of enjoying movies is being able to hear what the characters say in a clear manner, even when there are explosions and such going on in the scene. A nice center channel...

Excellent Center Channel!

Since replacing my home theater in a box center channel with the RC-52 II, I have noticed that I watch movies now at 25% lower volume than i used to. Everything is so crisp and clear. Voices are stronger and more vibrant. I was thrown back by the loudness of this center channel on my first movie viewing. It was very loud on my normal volume setting however it still maintained a clear and smooth sound.

I love this speaker and it definitely puts my other speakers to shame. I'm working on upgrading the fronts and the surrounds soon with more reference speakers from Klipsch.

Overall, the RC-52 II alone has greatly improved my movie experience. I highly recommend the RC-52 II or any of the other Reference series Center Channels Klipsch offers to anyone who is building a new home theater.
