Review
Samsung's new line of 4K LCD is outstanding
This review is for the 40'' version JU7100.
First off, from day one there has been confusion regaurding the specs on this TV.
The specs originaly posted by Samsung gave the false impression that this model has the
Quantum Dot technology, it does not! also, the refresh rate was incorrectly listed as 120hz.
The actual refresh rate is 240hz.
I was able to verify this information through several chats with Samsung, as well as through
members of the AVS forum.
A feature of this series I really love is the separate input box. You don't plug your inputs like HDMI
for your BD player directly into the TV. The input box is 7 x 3 x 1'', and has a patch cable going into
the back of the TV. You can put the input box anywhere, or you can mount it. This is great because
you don't need to reach behind the TV to connect your inputs. What a great idea!!

Clouding issues, poor off viewing angles
I bought this tv from a local store, read reviews and saw images looked amazing. Hooked it all up images looked great even the 1080p from my cable box, problem 1 but as soon as you leave the sweet spot (center of the tv) the picture loses contrast and it looks washed out. My seating area has seating in front and to the side so that does not help me at all. Then we go to problem 2 horrible clouding issues its terrible when your watching a movie and it goes to an all black screen and you are patches of clouding/grey areas that's a complete turn off. My old non Samsung 1080p set does not have clouding issues, or poor off angle viewing. I'm very disappointed with this set. Look at my images you be the judge.
PLEASE READ...IMPORTANT TECHNICAL INFO......
Samsung has released the JU7100 series of 4K TVs which contain a defect which makes them unable to connect to the internet via WIFI. That is the bad news. The good news is that today, 3/18/15, Samsung has issued a fix (firmware) which is available on their web site. You will need to use a flashdrive to download the fix and apply it to your TV.
Other than this problem, the TV performs as expected. Pretty straight foward to setup and operate. Oh, the remote is really nice..not your standard one your are familar with. It is very minimalist but powerful. Unlike other TVs, Samsung has adopted a separate Hub device which you plug all your cables into. There are no HDMI ports on the TV itself. Very interesting design. The Hub then connects into the back of the TV.
UPDATE: I was unable to apply the firmware using a flashdrive, evidently the TV could not read or find the file on the flashdrive. But that was not a big issue. As a work around, I hooked up my...
