Fantasy Life

Get a life...then get another
A fun mix between JRPG + Simulation game. Before you decide to invest in this game you need to understand exactly what this is. A lot of people compare it to Animal Crossing but it's more like Rune Factory or Disney Magical World if you've played those. There's a lot packed into this game so I'll try to briefly touch on everything without spoiling anything

- Life/Class System - There are 12 different classes your character can become. You can switch your class as much as you want as frequent as you want in the game. Certain quests will require you to be at a higher level within the class though so keep that in mind. You don't have to switch classes but it is highly recommended that you do (though you don't have to do all 12). Each class has their own specific quests so if you don't switch you'll miss a huge chunk of the game's content. Also classes benefit off each other. For example you can be a paladin (aka mercenary/knight whatever you'd call it) and then switch to...

Zelda + Animal Crossing = Fantasy Life
I had been looking forward to Fantasy Life since seeing the trailer at E3 2014, and it definitely lived up to my expectations. For the people who have been describing it as a cross between Zelda and Animal Crossing, that would probably be the best description of it. It has a lot of similarities to both titles, with a little bit more cuteness and more RPG elements thrown in. The maps are massive, and there are tons of things to do, from crafting and fishing, to fighting giant dragons and riding a horse. Similar to Animal Crossing, you get your own little house that you can decorate with things that you either buy from a merchant, or craft yourself as a carpenter. I have spent over 10 hours during the past two days on this game, and I have barely even scratched the surface. Anyone who loves Zelda and/or Animal Crossing will fall in love with Fantasy Life, and I'm so glad to have this title for my 3DS.

Mostly fun but...
Was very excited for this game which was described to me as a cross between Animal Crossing and a RPG. It's fun, I should just get that out of the way. I'm enjoying playing it and I am glad I bought it.

That said, it is not what I expected and there are aspects of the game which frustrate me. I thought this would be a RPG with Animal Crossing (i.e., sim) aspects. I think it's more accurately described as a RPG-themed sim. In other words, the actual RPG aspect, where you are working to complete quests to further a narrative, is almost nonexistent. The story requires almost no action nor thought on the part of the player. When a problem must be solved within the main storyline, for example, you'll see instructions written on the screen telling you what to do and a big flashing red arrow on your map telling you where to go to do it. Once you get to where you need to go, the game takes over and everything is acted out requiring the player only to push buttons to move the...
